  i went to the convention this past weekend in cleveland with my wife and son.

  most of the session was the status quo, but here are some of observations that i believe are worth noting: .

  1. i did not see a lot of jw.org advertisements and the website was not mentioned a whole lot during the session.

  There has never been an accounts report at Dist Conventions.

  Are you sure about that? I remember accounts reports being read for all conventions. Are they even still read at regular meetings?

  I went to the convention this past weekend in Cleveland with my wife and son. I did not want to go, but I went. Most of the session was the status quo, but here are some of observations that I believe are worth noting:

  1. I did not see a lot of “jw.org” advertisements and the website was not mentioned a whole lot during the session. Perhaps the jw.org mania has died down a bit?

  2. On Friday, there were only about 5,500 in attendance. I remember in years past how the attendance was 7,000+ even on Friday in Cleveland. Maybe it has to do with the shuffling around of circuits. Or maybe, less people are going.

  3. There were A LOT (and I mean A LOT) of videos and very few live experiences and demos. I noticed this trend last year at the international convention in Detroit.

  4. No live action drama? C’mon.

  5. There was no accounts report read. I repeat: There was no accounts report read. This must be something new. BTW, my wife wanted to donate with a credit card during the program and the a-hole attendant told her to wait until the program concluded. Guess what? She did not wait and we left. I told her that we need that money more than the org does.

  6. I have read in pervious threads that a video geared toward children was shown at the convention. Its message had to do with keeping children safe from abuse. No such video was shown at the convention I went to.

  I would love to hear from people that were there or people that would like to comment.

  i always sit in the same spot, just outside starbucks in a vestibule area with a table in the air-conditioned space.

  i say "always," but not today.. somebody with two laptops and a table filled with business ledgers was in "my" favorite spot!.

  so, i took a tiny wooden table inside the coffee shop on a long padded bench next to 3 other identical tables.. as the clickbait banner ads like to say: "and what happened next was simply unbelievable!".

  Dub #1 looked at Dub #2 and a kind of electric signal zapped from one to the other.

  When the WTS saw Catholic Church abuse being exposed

  there was a time when the abuse issues in the catholic church were first starting to be exposed.. now, they were fully aware that they had the exact same issues that they too were covering up.. what did they choose to do?.

  they could have "learnt" and said "man, that looks bad and we know we have the same problem - but at least we can learn something and put processes in place to make sure we clean up our act".. they could have done nothing themselves but refrained from criticized the catholic church knowing that they had the same skeletons in their own closet.. what did they actually do?.

  they wen't full guns criticizing the catholics for something they knew they were completely guilty of as well, painting themselves as 'the good guys where this sort of thing would never happen' but the only processes they put in place were to tighten up how cover-ups were managed and to make sure the local elders knew how to silence any incidents.

  The funny thing is that the org doesn't seem to be criticizing the catholic church these days when it comes to child abuse.

  I wonder why?

  If it has to do with the harming of children, you better believe that this issue will keep growing and eventually will explode. Remember Penn State and Jerry Sandusky? It started out with a few allegations and emails. Later on, victims started coming forward and sharing their stories and then it all exploded. The difference is that there was only one monster and a few enablers at Penn State. In dub land (as well as many other so-called religions), there were and are 100's or even 1,000's of "Sanduskys". Years after all of the allegations were made known, the university still trying to recover from it and will never be the same.

  Yeah. This thing is going to explode. It's happening right now.

  Sad about the past

  today i feel deep sad memories in my brain.. visiting bookstudy with my parents, doing my best giving answers at 7 years old.. doing fieldservice every weekend and on an evening.. i could write so much story's about it.. we believed from our hart and listened to what the organisation told us.. it makes me sad, what a scam it became.. today i can't stand it.. i can cry about it.

  I too find myself in the nostalgic mood sometimes.

  I remember going out in service with my anointed grandmother and she just wowed me at the doors, even at a young age. I remember stopping at a certain bakery for break whenever we had territory out in the country. I remember this old lady screaming at my mother and I at the door.

  I find myself looking around at everyone that I love and it hurts me deeply that they are getting old and will die. Most of my family did not go to college or save up for the future. There was no need to, right? I guess I was lucky because I did both.

  My nostalgia quickly turns to anger and resentment. Somebody has got to pay for the untold number of lives that this "religion", as well as others like it, has ruined.

  True. But they do not see it that that way. The org will never come out and say: "we were wrong". They are never wrong as it is always a "refinement of truth" and the "light getting brighter."

  Has the org ever admitted to being wrong on anything?

  At some point, when are the dubs going to say: "Wait a minute...something's not right here."? It seems like every change/new policy that the org pushes onto the flock, it is generally received in a positive light. How much is the org going to get away with before it is adversely affected? Goodness!
